CALLS TO ACTION
Permanent Status Not Precarity and Deportation
Message to PM Carney:
I call on you to prioritize immigration rights and justice that aligns with your commitment to building an economy and society that works for everyone and where no one is left behind.
This means cancelling all the anti-refugee and anti-immigrant provisions of Bill C-2.
The real issue is rights, not numbers. Over 2 million migrants in Canada grow our food, care for our families, heal our sick, and build our homes. Without permanent resident status, they face wage theft, unlivable homes, abuse and mistreatement that threatens their wellbeing and our collective society.

Kick Israel Out of FIFA: No To Zionism In Football
When: September 29th, 12pm
The Israeli settler state’s assault on Palestine in collaboration with the U.S. and its allies, is normalizing fascism on a global scale. We must fight this on all fronts, including the world’s most popular stage: Football.
Football is not separate from this struggle; it is a crucial battleground. Sporting events, like the 2026 FIFA World Cup, cannot be allowed to whitewash genocide. That’s why we demand FIFA ban Israel and the U.S. from World Cup participation until they comply with international law.

Activists Assembly
When: Saturday October 4th, 9am
Where: Toronto Don Valley Hotel, 175 Wynford Dr
Working people have had enough. Food costs, gas prices, rent and mortgage payments just keep rising. Meanwhile, our wages have not kept up. At every turn, government leaders have failed to stand up for us. But it’s our work that keeps this country running.
Relentless corporate lobbying has led to weakened labour laws, increased privatization of our public services, and tax cuts for themselves. In the end it’s cost us taxpayers more and sacrificed our good jobs.
This ends now. This country is not for the wealthy few. It should be for us.

The Many vs The Money
When: October 4-5
Where: Fredericton, NB
New Brunswick has a strong activist community, many civil-society and community-based groups and organizations, and university faculty, students and staff committed to social justice. We have had many important wins. Yet we need to do it more collaboratively and strategically, especially at a time of economic upheaval when consequential decisions are being made on our behalf.
An event objective is to support conversations that move beyond criticism, to organize and develop more ways to engage with our neighbours, colleagues, and all New Brunswickers, to root ourselves in our living spaces, to develop bonds of trust with those around us, to foster community. These alliances will be necessary to fight against exploitation, protect our natural spaces, and build lively, livable neighbourhoods together.

The Passivity or Complicity of BRICS+ with Imperialist Wars

By Éric Toussaint
In the first part of this series entitled “Why the BRICS are not denouncing the ongoing genocide in Gaza,” Éric Toussaint demonstrated that instead of severing trade relations with Israel, the BRICS+ are actually maintaining and strengthening their trade with Netanyahu’s neo-fascist regime by supplying it with fuel and food, purchasing weapons from it, and specifically in India’s case, providing the Israel Defence Forces with drones and other military hardware.

The Intertwined Food and Climate Emergency: Heeding Science

By Judith Deutsch
This is an astonishing world. Blame for current disasters cannot be offloaded to ‘human nature’. All who take care of children know that children can learn to live within limits and that they can develop a realistic sense of time, that they can learn to forego some pleasures and wishes. From psychoanalytic work, I find that people can learn to be objective and to have a conscience. But everywhere there are examples of shocking entitlement, lying, distorting facts.
