Elbit OUT of Canada

Over the last 6 months, many thousands of people took action to push our government to close the loophole that allows Canadian weapons to fuel Israel’s genocide. But the Carney government chose once again to side with arms manufacturers instead of human rights.

We must continue to escalate pressure on the federal government to impose a full two-way arms embargo on Israel. But we also cannot afford to wait for this government to do the right thing.
That’s why we are taking an arms embargo into our own hands. And we’re starting with Elbit Systems.

Worth Fighting For!

In Ontario, if a child needs autism services, they’re put on a waitlist alongside 61,000 other kids. Meanwhile, 52,000 adults with developmental disabilities are stuck on waitlists for support. Children’s Aid agencies across the province are warehousing kids in motels and office buildings because there aren’t enough placements. .

Waitlists. Broken promises. Crumbling social services.

– Sub-contracted work which led to lower wages and worse working conditions for workers

Trans Inclusion in Sport

Trans inclusion in sport has become one of the most debated issues in public discourse, often shaped by misinformation and incomplete understandings of the evidence. This presentation examines the research, realities of gender-affirming care, and the impact of trans-exclusionary policies, while exploring questions of fairness, participation, privacy, and belonging. Through an evidence-informed approach, participants will be encouraged to critically assess common assumptions and consider how sport can be made more inclusive and accessible for everyone.

How to Organize your Workplace

Having problems at work and are not sure what to do? Have you heard about unions and want to know how to get started? Do you lack the confidence to talk to your coworkers about forming a union? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then the How to Organize Your Workplace course is for you!

Over two days participants will learn what it takes to go from zero organization at work to a functioning committee of coworkers that can take on the boss and win! Together we will learn and practice the ideas, methods, and skills necessary to build power at work. The course will also feature a general discussion of unions: strengths and weaknesses, potentials and limits, and why organizing at work should be a top priority for those who want a better world.

A Tribute to Palestinian Journalists

On August 15, the Palestinian Youth Movement, will honor the life and struggle of Anas al-Sharif, to mourn his martyrdom and that of his colleagues, and to understand explicitly how it is that mainstream western media enabled their deaths to occur unabated.

We will hear from some journalists, to learn how they grew and transformed as the genocide accelerated, and how the ongoing genocide has affected their ability to deliver the truth.

Artificial intelligence (AI) covers a broad range of technologies. But there is only one that dominates the news and financial markets – the multimodal generative AI systems produced by leading tech companies, in particular, ChatGPT (OpenAI), Claude (Anthropic), Gemini (Google), Grok (xAI), Copilot (Microsoft), and Llama (Meta). Tech leaders are all in on this type of AI because of its potential to secure them great wealth and political power. It also happens to be the type that is most threatening to our well-being, although not for the reasons commonly given by tech leaders and echoed by most media.

Palestinian Human Rights and Civil Society

The escalating violence perpetrated by Israeli settlers, driven by religious Zionist ideology and supported by the Israeli occupying forces in the occupied West Bank on 24 July 2026, resulted in intensified attacks against Palestinians, including those attempting to protect themselves and their communities. These incidents were subsequently used by Israeli official spokespersons and media outlets – including statements by the Prime Minister, senior government ministers, the Minister of ‘Defence’, and military and security officials – to justify further military operations and promote rhetoric that fueled violence and calls for the forced displacement of Palestinians.

Communications Rep

The Canadian National Office of the United Steelworkers is seeking a full-time staff person, to work in our Etobicoke office as part of our Communications and Political Action Department, starting as soon as possible.

This is a bargaining unit position covered by the Staff Representatives’ Union, with a starting rate of $106,575.54 to a top rate of $137,516.80, plus lease vehicle or car allowance, per diem and a generous benefit and pension package. Deadline August 24.
