The US has sanctioned UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, 8 ICC judges, 3 court officials, and Palestinian human rights organisations Al-Haq, Al Mezan, and PCHR. The message is chilling: investigate genocide, speak up for international law, and we will destroy your life. Under Executive Order 14203, anyone collaborating with the International Criminal Court becomes a target.

Solidarity with Palestinians in the West Bank

On Friday July 24, hear Israeli military refuser, Amit Orfali, and Protective Presence activist, Paul Fish, share their stories.

Amit Orfali is a 19-year-old Jewish Israeli who is one of the very few to defy the compulsory military conscription law and refuse to enlist. Amit is directly involved in actively supporting Palestinian farmers and shepherds in the West Bank in resisting the brutal, violent settler and military attacks that they are constantly subjected to.

Paul is a Canadian volunteer whose perspectives evolved through family and direct experience in the Jordan Valley.

Celebrate our Victories

On July 26, 1953 a group of brave young Cubans led by Fidel Castro attacked the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes garrisons, symbols of the tyranny and occupation of Cuba under the U.S. puppet regime of Batista. Although the attack was defeated, it raised the banner of struggle which led to the victory of the Cuba Revolution on Jan. 1, 1959.

This year’s anniversary celebration coincides with the ever-tightening genocidal economic, financial and trade blockade of Cuba combined, with the arbitrary naming of Cuba as a “state sponsor of terrorism” which aims to “suffocate the Cuban people into submission” to no avail!

Summer Practice School

Alliance of Workers and Students (AWAS) is launching a summer series of hands-on trainings to build practical skills for actions and organizing. Sessions will include security culture at actions, street medic, legal observing (LO), Know Your Rights (KYR), chant leading, street tactics, and more.

The goal is to build collective capacity across the city, so more of us feel confident stepping into key roles at actions.

Sessions will run bi-weekly on weekends and be led in collaboration with experienced organizers and groups.

Leftists struggle with economic issues. In a bygone era, such issues were the subject of endless debate between intellectuals, activists, and the working masses. These debates were not without conflict and reservations. Intellectuals often accused the masses of ignorance, while the masses considered the intellectuals out of touch with reality. Activists found themselves in a perpetual mediating role between intellectuals and workers. In doing so, they created a language in which life-and-work experiences could be expressed, demands for a different life formulated, and strategies for the struggle for that different life developed.

Launch of Out of the Impasse?

This launch of Herman Rosenfeld’s writings provides a vital record of socialist analysis rooted in the lived experiences of Canadian labour. Drawing on his background as a shop floor worker at General Motors in Scarborough and in the education department of the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW, now Unifor), this selection examines how a constantly changing capitalism seeks to reorganise workplace practices. And how, in resistance, working-class organisations must adapt, rebuild, and reimagine collective power. Across these essays, Rosenfeld argues that technological modernisations and economic “efficiencies” suggested by management are never value-neutral but rather political choices that reproduce class (and other) hierarchies unless challenged by workers and their representative organisations.
