Honour Canada’s Emissions Targets

Petition to the Government of Canada

Whereas:
– Canadians are concerned about the changing climate and the resulting droughts, wildfires and floods caused by a warming planet;
– The federal government is not addressing the climate crisis in ways that will fundamentally prevent further greenhouse gas emissions;
– It is necessary to break through this climate silence with clear, honest, and consistent public communication grounded in science and lived experience…

We, citizens and residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to honour and ensure Canada’s 2030 and 2035 emissions targets and strengthen the policies that make them achievable for the love of our children and grandchildren.

Art show: Gang of Five

Canada’s Changing Climate Report – AMA

When: September 10th, 12pm

On September 3rd, the federal government released Canada’s Changing Climate Report 2026—a landmark scientific assessment summarizing how climate change will impact Canada. The report shows that Canada must prepare for a future that is up to 5°C hotter and act now to avoid the worst impacts.

You’re invited to join one of the report’s co-authors, Dr. Chris Derksen, Acting Director, Climate Modelling Research Division at Environment and Climate Change Canada and Ryan Ness, Adaptation Research Director at the Canadian Climate Institute for an “ask-us-anything” discussion on the report, on September 10 at 12pm ET.

Climate Solutions to Build Canada Better

The webinar is being held ahead of the Canada Investment Summit and will focus on practical climate solutions, investment opportunities, and projects that can help Canada strengthen its economy while making meaningful progress on climate action.

The conversation will be moderated by Laura Lynch, former host of CBC’s What on Earth?, and will feature a diverse panel of climate and clean-economy voices, including Jason Mogus of We Are Adamant, Catherine Abreu of the European Climate Foundation and former Executive Director of Climate Action Network Canada, and Natalie Gerum of Youth Climate Corps BC. Pushed Over the Brink

In previous submissions to the government, we noted that Ontario hospitals face a worsening capacity crisis due to stagnant bed growth, insufficient staffing, and inadequate funding. This has worsened as funding increases have failed to match cost pressures. We are now in the third year of funding plans that cannot maintain current service levels. For the last two years, funding has fallen at least two percent per year behind costs.

Artificial Intelligence – part 4

Multimodal AI systems and AI agents may not revolutionize society or business operations like their proponents predict, but that does not mean we have nothing to fear from their use. In fact, many companies and public agencies are already aggressively seeking to embed these AI systems into their operations, transforming work processes to the detriment of both workers and the quality of the goods and services they produce. Cutting through the AI hype was thus a necessary first step, making it possible for us to clarify the nature of the threat we face and to sharpen our thinking about how to build resistance and advance our own class interests.
