Nov 1, 2019 - Don't Celebrate NATO; Abolish It!

When: Friday November 1st, 6pm
Where: Globe & Mail Centre, 351 King Street East, Suite 1600

Former Prime Minister Paul Martin is the keynote speaker at this $250-per-ticket fundraiser for the NATO Association of Canada. We will protest outside this event that "celebrates NATO." We say NATO shouldn't be celebrated; it should be abolished.

The event is to raise money for the NATO Association of Canada, which also receives funding from US weapons giants Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics. This year is the 70th anniversary of this male-dominated military alliance and Cold War relic that threatens our security with weapons and war. NATO puts intense pressure on the Canadian government to increase military spending and is preventing Canada from joining the UN Treaty to Prohibit Nuclear Weapons. VOW is calling for the Canadian government to withdraw from NATO and work through the United Nations on disarmament and the Sustainable Development Goals that will bring genuine human security. No to NATO; yes to peace, nonviolence and sustainability! Organized by the Canadian Voice of Women for Peace

Oct 31, 2019 - Vampires vs. The People: An XR Halloween

When: Thursday October 31st, 7:30pm
Where: Barbara Hall Park, 519 Church Street

Extinction Rebellion Toronto will take to Toronto's biggest Hallowe'en party in the Gay Village (Church and Wellesley) and perform a skit that is both haunting and close to home. The skit pits the vampires, seemingly hell-bent on sucking every last drop of oil, water and life out of this planet vs. the rest of us: the land, the plants, animals and people who call this place home.

The situation seems dire. The body count at the vampires' lair rises but, over the hill, in the sleepy village a motley crew of vampire hunters begins to form.
